Campership Endowment Fund
Friends Camp is proud to announce the launch of our new Campership Endowment Fund! The donations we receive for this endowment are invested so they can grow over time. A small percentage of the Fund will be used each year to support current “camperships” (our word for scholarships) while allowing for the growth of the rest of the Fund to support future camperships. We are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who has already donated, and are excited to grow our endowment to support even more campers into the future. Read the FAQs below to learn more about the Fund and how to contribute.
Campership Endowment Fund FAQs
-
In recent years, more campers have attended Friends Camp than ever before. At the same time, financial need for our camper families and operating costs for camp both continue to rise, creating a higher need for campership resources.
-
“Campership” is our word for scholarships. We work to support any camper who wishes to attend camp, regardless of financial means. Camperships range from just a few hundred dollars of support to the full amount of camp tuition, dependent on a family’s financial need. See this page to learn more about camperships and read our full campership policy.
-
The Fund is restricted permanently for the purpose of Friends Camp, and is invested to support its growth over time. Each year, the Camp Committee may withdraw up to 5% to support current-year camperships, while still allowing growth in the overall fund.
-
The Endowment Fund is term-limited for 30 years, after which it will become a board-designated fund. This means that the Camp Committee in 2055 (30 years after the Endowment’s inception in 2025) will be able to determine how to use the funds in support of Friends Camp. Investing your funds now allows consistent support for Camperships over the next 30 years as well as beyond to whatever the future brings for Friends Camp.
-
Funds are invested through the New England Yearly Meeting Pooled Funds with prioritization given to Quaker values in investing.
