Distance and Travel Times to Friends Camp from:

Augusta, ME - 16 miles / 24 minutes
Portland, ME - 70 miles / 1 hour and 15 minutes
Boston, MA - 180 miles / 3 hours and 15 minutes
Providence, RI - 222 miles / 4 hours and 15 minutes
Amherst, MA - 250 miles / 4 hours and 30 minutes
Hartford, CT - 277 miles / 4 hours and 45 minutes
New York City - 388 miles / 7 hours and 10 minutes

Drop-off and Pick-up times:

Please drop off your child at Friends Camp between 2 PM and 3:45 PM on Sunday and remember to pick up your child between 9:45 AM and 11:45 AM on Saturday.

By Car Pool: Please call or e-mail the director for names and phone numbers of camper parents in your area. You can also try our special Yahoo group email list which has been created to allow you to communicate with other parents offering or needing a ride to or from Friends Camp. You can join by visiting http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ridesforfriendscamp/ or by sending an email to ridesforfriendscamp@yahoogroups.com from the address where your Friends Camp announcements are normally sent. Once your list membership request is approved, you can post or send an e-mail to the list at ridesforfriendscamp@yahoogroups.com. Be sure to include your name, the dates you are interested in, your location, phone number, and whether you are offering a ride or seeking a ride. If you have a question about this new YAHOO group please e-mail ridesforfriendscamp-owner@yahoogroups.com

By Bus: Jones, Dyer, Fox, & Fell campers are also welcome to use the Concord Coach bus from Boston or Portland. Please visit www.concordcoachlines.com for more information. The camp van can pick up campers in Augusta for a fee of $25 or Portland for a fee of $50.

By Plane: Plan to fly into Portland, Maine. Please make sure that your pick-up times on Sunday fall between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, and drop-off times on Saturday between 10 AM and 2:00 PM. The camp driver will be wearing a camp T-shirt and will have a camp business card. If you need pick-up or drop-off rides you must send us flight details two weeks in advance. One-way ride to or from Portland are provided for an extra fee of $50. We charge an extra $30 van fee if the pick up or the drop off time is before 9 AM or the pick up or the drop off time is after 4 PM.


 

Portland ME, Portsmouth NH, and Smithfield RI Bus: To line up with the start of Yearly Meeting Sessions we have a bus to Smithfield, RI that will leave camp at the end of the Fox Camp on August 6. This bus will also make stops in Portland, ME, and Portsmouth, NH and Newton, MA.

The costs for this one-way trip are:

  • Portland - $40.
  • Portsmouth - $50
  • Newton - $60
  • Smithfield - $70

This charted bus is also for campers who are not attending Yearly Meeting Sessions who live in Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and southern Maine who would find it easier to be dropped off at one of these locations. The bus will not stop for lunch in Portsmouth. Campers will pack a lunch and eat on bus.

These drop off times are estimated and because of traffic and other issues the bus could be between 15 and 45 minutes late. For updates on bus arrival times or to get the cell phone number of the staff person on this bus, please call 207-445-2361 or 207-458-1306.

  • Portsmouth, NH (12:15 PM) – New Hampshire State Liquor Store, Portsmouth Circle, Portsmouth, New Hampshire
  • Newton, MA (1:30 PM) Riverside MBTA T-Stop, Grove Street
  • Smithfield, R (3:00 PM) – Building 16, Bryant University, 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917 (Follow the NEYM signs to the Building 16 parking lot.)
