Distance and Travel Times to Friends Camp from:

    Augusta, ME - 16 miles / 24 minutes
    Portland, ME - 70 miles / 1 hour and 15 minutes
    Boston, MA - 180 miles / 3 hours and 15 minutes
    Providence, RI - 222 miles / 4 hours and 15 minutes
    Amherst, MA - 250 miles / 4 hours and 30 minutes
    Hartford, CT - 277 miles / 4 hours and 45 minutes
     

By Car Pool: Please call or e-mail the director for names and phone numbers of camper parents in your area. You can also try our special Yahoo group email list which has been created to allow you to communicate with other parents offering or needing a ride to or from Friends Camp. You can join by visiting http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ridesforfriendscamp/ or by sending an email to ridesforfriendscamp@yahoogroups.com from the address where your Friends Camp announcements are normally sent. Once your list membership request is approved, you can post or send an e-mail to the list at ridesforfriendscamp@yahoogroups.com. Be sure to include your name, the dates you are interested in, your location, phone number, and whether you are offering a ride or seeking a ride. If you have a question about this new YAHOO group please e-mail ridesforfriendscamp-owner@yahoogroups.com .

By Bus: Jones, Dyer, Fox, & Fell campers are also welcome to use the Concord Coach bus from Boston or Portland. Please visit www.concordcoachlines.com for more information. The camp van can pick up campers in Augusta or Portland.

By Plane: Plan to fly into Augusta or Portland, Maine. Please make sure that your pick-up times on Sunday fall between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, and drop-off times on Saturday between 10 AM and 2:00 PM. The camp driver will be wearing a camp T-shirt and will have a camp business card. If you need pick-up or drop-off rides you must send us flight details two weeks in advance. One-way rides to or from Portland are provided for an extra fee of $60 and a one-way van ride to or from Augusta is provided for an extra fee of $30.

Portland ME, Portsmouth NH, and Smithfield RI Bus: To line up with the start of Yearly Meeting Sessions we have a bus to Smithfield, RI that will leave camp at the end of the Fox Camp on August 7. This bus will also make stops in Portland, ME, and Portsmouth, NH. The costs for this one-way trip are Smithfield -$90, Portsmouth-$75, and Portland-$60. This camp bus is also for campers who are not attending Yearly Meeting Sessions who live in Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and southern Maine who would find it easier to be dropped off at one of these three locations.

These are addresses and estimated drop off times for the three drop off locations:

  • Portland, ME (10:45-11:15AM) – Friends Meeting House, 1837 Forest Ave, Portland, ME 04102 (Next to the Tortilla Flats Restaurant)
  • Portsmouth, NH (11:45AM to 12:15PM) – Café Espresso, 738 Islington St, Portsmouth, NH 03801 (800 Islington Plaza)
  • Smithfield, R (3:00-4:0PM) – Building 16, Bryant University, 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917 (Follow the NEYM signs to the Building 16 parking lot.)
