Four Sessions of Friends Camp Jones (1 or 2 Weeks) Ages 7-12
Dyer (Two Weeks) Ages 10-13
Fox (Two Weeks) Ages 12-17
Fell (Two Weeks) Ages 12-17
Friends Camp is an exceptional place where youth have time for play and for reflection, with creative arts, non-competitive games, waterfront activities, drama, discussion, and many other interesting and creative activities. Our sessions run for two weeks each, with a one-week option for our younger campers. We are a diverse and caring community that nurtures unique personalities each camper brings to camp.
In an increasingly hectic world, Friends Camp is one of the few remaining places that allows young people to reconnect with nature and learn a sense of community through spiritual fellowship. At Friends Camp, we provide a place for children to get away from television and video games, cell phones, e-mail, and instant messaging. Each session is full of many options, such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, crafts, games, and an overnight expedition to Indian Island on China Lake. Some of our campers come from Quaker families, but most hail from other backgrounds. We welcome youth of all faiths as well as those who identify with no particular faith at all. With our six-to-one camper-counselor ratio, Friends Camp is a wonderful place for friendships to grow, and it is often a transformative experience for both the campers and the counselors.
If your 7 to 10 year old child is not ready to attend Friends Camp for the full two weeks, you might wish to send him or her for just one week during our Jones Camp. You may choose between Week One (starting on June 24, 2012) or Week Two (starting on July 1, 2012). The tuition for one week of Jones Camp is between $435 and $485.
Our camp sessions usually accommodate between 60 and 95 campers, with about 20 counselors. The tuition for the two weeks of Jones, Dyer, Fox, and Fell camps is between $775 and $875. Many campers will attend Friends Camp for two sessions (four weeks). See our fee page for more information about session dates, fees, and registration. Samples of Morning Program
The Baxter State Park Trip [To sign up for this, you must first be signed up for Fox or Fell session.]
During Fox and Fell sessions, we offer an overnight camping trip for a few intrepid campers. Up to ten campers and three staff go to Baxter State Park – a beautiful and remote region in Northern Maine – for a challenging hike. Campers who wish to sign up for this trip should be in very good shape and be able and willing to hike all day. You will need to bring sturdy hiking shoes and camping gear (a list will be provided).
The Baxter trip is a unique opportunity and has been very popular. Please discuss this with your child before signing them up for it. Refunds will not be available if your child decides not to go on the trip once they are at camp.
Mott Family Camp Mott Family Camp is on hiatus for 2012 while we consider what the future of this program will look like. Please contact Friends Camp if you think you might be interested in being a part of Family Camp in the future.
