Other Transportation Options

Charter Bus to NEYM Sessions: To line up with the start of Yearly Meeting Sessions we have a bus to Smithfield, RI that will leave camp at the end of the Fox Camp on August 4. This bus will also make stops in Portland, ME, and Portsmouth, NH and Newton, MA.

The costs for this one-way trip are:

  • Portland - $50.
  • Portsmouth - $60
  • Newton - $70
  • Smithfield - $80

This charted bus is also for campers who are not attending Yearly Meeting Sessions who live in Rhode Island, eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and southern Maine who would find it easier to be dropped off at one of these locations. The bus will not stop for lunch in Portsmouth. Campers will pack a lunch and eat on bus.

These drop off times are estimated and because of traffic and other issues the bus could be between 15 and 45 minutes late. For updates on bus arrival times or to get the cell phone number of the staff person on this bus, please call 207-445-2361 or 207-458-1306.

  • Portland, ME (11:00AM) – Friends Meeting House, 1837 Forest Ave, Portland, ME 04102 (Next to the Tortilla Flats Restaurant)
  • Portsmouth, NH (12:15 PM) – New Hampshire State Liquor Store, Portsmouth Circle, Portsmouth, New Hampshire
  • Newton, MA (1:30 PM) Riverside MBTA T-Stop, Grove Street

By Car Pool: Please call or e-mail the director for the names and phone numbers of camper parents in your area that would open to car pooling.

Concord Coach Bus: The Concord Coach Line that stops in North Augusta is the nearest location for bus service to Friends Camp. One-way transportation to and from the Augusta bus station is provided for an extra fee of $25. If you live in southern New England consider having your teen or pre-teen take the Concord Coach bus that leaves at 10:00 AM from South Station (Boston) and get into North Augusta at 1:15 PM. The return bus leaves the Concord Coach station in North Augusta at 10:15 AM and gets into South Station at 1:15 PM. Campers can also hop on the bus to Augusta from Portsmouth or Portland.

By Plane: Plan to fly into Augusta, Maine or Portland, Maine. Flights should arrive between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Sunday, and should depart between 6:00am and 11:00am on Saturday. The camp driver will be wearing a Friends Camp T-shirt and will have a camp business card. You must send us flight details two weeks in advance if you need pick-up or drop-off rides. One-way van transportation to or from airports is provided for an extra fee of $50 (Portland) or $25 (Augusta).
